Mayweather Vs Alvarez Reminds Us Why Boxing Sucks

What ever happened to boxing? I'm not talking about the reality TV show that it's turned into today but the sweet science that guys like Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier worked so hard to pave the way for. While Floyd Mayweather will one day go down as one of the greatest of all time, some of the stuff that he's done during his time as the top dog has been straight up disgraceful.

Sure it's entertainment and we don't want a bunch of uptight athletes being squares everywhere they go, but when you come out with Justin Bieber and Lil Wayne singing “A Mili,” you know things have gone to sh*t.

This isn't anything new that we're seeing, but come on son. Weezy is the  most trash rapper out today and Bieber is well, Bieber. It looked more like a circus act coming out rather than a world class champion getting ready to defend his title.

From there, the fight did nothing but disappoint. 12 rounds of pure nothing. Boxing “experts” might go out and say that it was a solid fight and that Mayweather put picked Canelo Alvarez apart, but for any casual fan, which most of us are, it was sheer trash.

We don't want to see defense, dodging or ducking. We want to see two grown ass men fighting until the finish. The finish of course including one of them getting knocked the f*ck out. If you want to see a real fight, tune into UFC 165 when super champ Jon Jones takes on Alexander Gustafsson for the light heavyweight title. This one is sure to not disappoint.
