Ole Miss Sends Football Recruit 54 Handwritten Letters In One Day
One of the top prospects in the country, linebacker Clifton Garrett received scholarship offers from just about every Big Ten school: such as Ohio State, Nebraska and Michigan State.
Despite the heavy competition, one school in particular had already come to terms with the fact that they were going to do whatever they could to become Garrett’s no. 1 choice.
Ole Miss had their eye on Garrett and they weren’t going to let him go. So, to compete with the prestigious colleges that also offered him a full scholarship, Ole Miss sent Garrett a total of 54 hand written letters from their coaching staff to convince him to attend their institution.
We have no idea what each letter specifically said, but Ole Miss’s strategy was ultimately successful as they would go on to sign Garrett along with five other national high school football superstars.
We also have no idea why they picked such a high yet random number. Wouldn’t 20 letters have done the trick as well?
Either way, Ole Miss’s coaching staff outworked Arizona State, Notre Dame and a ton of other schools in recruiting Garrett.
Hell, they made these schools seem downright lazy, and that’s not the attitude of a winning coaching staff. We’ll see how much Ole Miss caters to Garrett’s abilities and fame in their upcoming season.
