Three bidders with deep pockets paid a total of $36,000 at the Joe Andruzzi Foundation’s New England Celebrities Tackles Cancer Gala, and will get the opportunity to play Xbox with Rob Gronkowski, according to the Boston Globe.
We’re assuming this will take place after he’s fully recovered from his forearm injury and his cast is removed.
Originally, the prize was supposed to be for one winner to have a four-hour session of gaming with Gronk, but when bidding escalated so quickly, they decided to split the prize between three generous winners, who bid $12K each.
In all, the Gala raised $500,000 to help families cover household expenses during cancer treatments and aid funding for pediatric brain cancer research at Boston Children’s Hospital.
Joe Andruzzi , a cancer survivor, was part of a Patriots team that won 3 Super Bowl Championships.
“We hoped to make this year’s gala our best ever,” he said, “and we definitely succeeded.”
