Cyclist Lance Armstrong reportedly will admit to doping allegations during an interview next week with Oprah Winfrey. However, it is unlikely the seven-time Tour de France champion will provide details of alleged use of performance-enhancing drugs and blood doping, according to USA Today, which cites a source.

The 90-minute interview at Armstrong’s home in Austin, Texas, is scheduled to be taped Monday. It will be televised Thursday on the Oprah Winfrey Network’s “Oprah’s Next Chapter” and streamed live on Oprah.com at 9 p.m. ET.

It will be his first interview since he was stripped of his cycling titles after an in-depth report last fall from the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency accused him of doping while leading the U.S. Postal Service cycling team. Soon after, he lost most of his sponsors and resigned from the board of his cancer-fighting Livestrong Foundation.

“Armstrong will address the alleged doping scandal, years of accusations of cheating, and charges of lying about the use of performance-enhancing drugs throughout his storied cycling career,” according to a statement from the network.

Earlier this month, the New York Times reported he was considering admitting publicly that he used banned performance-enhancing drugs and blood transfusions to help him win the seven Tour de France titles.

Armstrong, 41, who was stripped of his Tour titles last fall, has discussed the ramifications of an admission with associates and anti-doping officials, according to the Times, which cited people with direct knowledge of the talks.

The Times said the purpose of the admission would be to talk anti-doping officials into restoring his eligibility in his athletic pursuits. Armstrong has been trying to participate in triathlon and cycling events.

Armstrong’s attorney, Tim Herman, earlier this week denied Armstrong would admit to the doping allegations.

The Times reported Armstrong has been in discussions with the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency and its chief, Travis Tygart. Also, he would have to clear up several legal cases, including an allegation that he defrauded the U.S. government, which sponsored his U.S. Postal Service cycling team.

A Healthy Derrick Rose’s Bulls Are Better Than LeBron James’ Cavs

This time, we should know better. If there’s one thing sports has consistently taught us over the years, it’s that super teams do not work like magic. Recent history speaks for itself. Gary Peyton and Karl Malone joining Shaq and Kobe didn’t hand the 2004 Lakers an NBA title. Acquiring an ungodly amount of talent, headlined by […]

Russell Westbrook’s Broken Hand Will Certainly Not Help OKC’s Season

When one door closes, another opens. Every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end. Despite that being what I’ve learned about life opportunities, I’m having trouble looking on the bright side of Russell Westbrook’s newly broken hand. When a particularly tricky brand of broken foot put Kevin Durant out of commission a few weeks ago, a […]

Teenage Girl Humiliated When Teacher Shows Her Bikini Photo At School Assembly

Showing a 15-year-old’s Facebook photograph of her in a bikini to an entire school assembly is not the appropriate way to teach youths about social media privacy. 11 Reasons Why You Should Date An Unemotional Woman

There’s a special subset of women who get a bad rep because they’re not the bubbly, outwardly girly, let’s-share-our-feelings type of characters.
