The father of former UCLA small forward Shabazz Muhammad was indicted on federal bank fraud and conspiracy charges Thursday and is being detained in Las Vegas pending a detention hearing, according to the Las Vegas Review Journal.

According to the indictment, Ron Holmes and his business partners fraudulently attained mortgage loans to buy houses from 2006 to 2009. The U.S. attorney’s office is trying to reclaim $2.5 million from Holmes.

Before Muhammad played at UCLA, Holmes was investigated by the NCAA, after lying about his son’s age, because of questionable financial practices.

He pleaded guilty to using fraudulent bank statements to obtaining mortgages in 1999 and had to pay a restitution fee of about $78,000 to banks and credit unions.

Muhammad is projected as a lottery pick in the NBA Draft in June. Watch his highlights below.

Why We Really Need To Worry About How Bullying Is Affecting The Human Race

There’s an epidemic in our culture these days, and it is disheartening. Most of it is unwarranted and unprovoked.
