The Quick Gas: Mike Shanahan Pranks RGIII About Going Into The Game
No one wants to play the live game of football quite like our boy RGIII right now. After going down with a devastating season-ending injury during last year’s playoffs, he’s ready to show that he’s fully recovered and better than ever. He’ll just have to wait until preseason is over, though.
In last night’s exhibition matchup between the Redskins and Steelers, Washington coach Mike Shanahan pulled the quickest gas of all time when he called Robert Griffin III over and asked, “Ready to go in?”
The naturally excited RG got his hopes up when just one second later, Shannahan began laughing because there was no way he could sell it — he wasn’t putting Griffin in!
While RGIII could surely play today, the Redskins are taking no risk when it comes to their star QB. He has one of the brightest futures ahead of him, and for him to get hurt during a meaningless preseason game would be absurd.
Whether or not he will have rust from not playing any live action in nearly a year will be determined on September 9th, when the Redskins face off against Mike Vick and the Eagles. Now that’s one hell of a matchup worth watching. Check out another angle of the prank below.
