Everyone's Pissed At Ellen Over This Tweet She Posted About Usain Bolt

When I think of racist people who make my blood boil -- Donald J. Trump -- Ellen DeGeneres definitely doesn't come to mind, but that hasn't stopped Twitter and the internet from vehemently saying otherwise.

On Monday, Ellen tweeted a photoshopped meme of herself riding Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt's back. The meme uses the now iconic image of Bolt smiling as he breezed to victory in the men's 100-meter race at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio.

As you can see in the tweet above, to accompany the photoshopped image, Ellen wrote,

This is how I'm running errands from now on. #Rio2016

You get it; she wants to get done with her errands as quickly as possible, and Usain Bolt is, you know, the fastest man alive.

This was obviously meant to be a joke, but there were plenty on Twitter who didn't see it that way.

@TheEllenShow This is so gross. Fire whoever did this. — dai for night (@daibyday) August 15, 2016
@daibyday @TheEllenShow seriously, WTF? — iyonah (@iyonah) August 15, 2016
@TheEllenShow so the first thing that pops in your head when looking at this pic is "oh let me jump onto his back like he's a common mule"? — Jon Snow-ratio (@Jhoratio) August 15, 2016

On the reverse side, there appear to be quite a few folks who saw this as nothing more than the joke it was intended to be.

@BryanIsTheKing @iyonah @daibyday @TheEllenShow people love creating stories. Ellen's apparently now a racist. Ellen. — Kellz (@ChippedKelly) August 16, 2016
Y'all know Damn well Ellen ain't racist but y'all gon act like she is because it's social media and y'all annoying. — Problematic Bear (@SeanTheTerrible) August 16, 2016
If Usain was white, y'all wouldn't care. We all know Ellen isn't racist & didn't mean any harm by that. Stop it — Zizzy (@xtraordinairee_) August 16, 2016

As CNN notes, Ellen has had Usain Bolt on her show before, and the pair appear to be friends.

And, Ellen even tweeted out a statement defending herself.

I guess some folks don't want to hear about all that, though. The better story is that Ellen DeGeneres is now a racist, just like Donald J. Trump.
