It’s 2013 and it’s time for that new shit. The Golden State Warriors are leading the way by unveiling new jerseys with sleeves. That’s right, motherfuckin’ sleeves on the motherfuckin’ jerseys.
And the results? They look too fire. Adidas has successfully crafted an amazing looking hybrid jersey with sleeves that don’t look awkward.
Adidas VP Lawrence Norman had this to say about the innovative change:
“It was the right moment, the right team. Even more important, the right city. When you launch something as innovative as this — that will change the way the players look on the court and the way the fans support the team forever — why not launch it in the most innovative part of the United States?”
The new jerseys are actually 26 percent lighter than the ones today which is a major selling point for the product. They absorb moisture from sweat and the sleeves are made with stretch fabric that wraps 360 degrees around the shoulder to ensure full range of motion for players when they shoot.
We could be witnessing the next step in the evolution of NBA uniforms similar to when players upgraded from their booty shorts in the 70’s. Tune in to the Warriors and Spurs game on February 22 to get the first look at these jerseys in action.
