Russia’s decision to enlist two of the country’s most accomplished Olympians, Irina Rodnina and Vladislav Tretiak, as torchbearers to light the Olympic flame didn’t come without controversy.

That’s because three-time figure skating gold medalist (’72, ’76,’80) Irina Rodnina had some interesting things to share on Twitter around this time last year.

In a tweet that has since been deleted, the 64-year-old posted a picture of Barack Obama and his wife Michelle seated at a function with a banana super-imposed onto the image.

Of course, Rodnina denies that she’s a racist saying “Freedom of speech is freedom of speech,” September, but we know better.

This College Application From 1922 Shows The Process Has Always Been Crazy (Photo)

If you thought the college application process was absurd now, check out this college application from 1922, which asks questions like “Is your health good?” and if you’d like to study “domestic science,” whatever that means. This single-paged, no-essay application, albeit with slightly invasive questions, makes me wish I could go back in time and study at Elon. […]
