I'm An Adult Who Loves Disney Trips And I Won't Apologize For It

A recent article caught my eye — and not for a good reason.

I could not believe this writer insulted a couple's decision to opt for a week's trip to Disney World rather than a five-star resort in some tropical location.

As a die-hard Disney fan, my main thought was, "How on earth could anyone ever bash anything Disney?"

It provokes imagination and a certain sense of nostalgic magic we can't help but fall in love with.

I'm trying to remember what my good friend Thumper told me in "Bambi," “If you don't got nothing nice to say don't say nothin' at all.”

The blogger's article insinuated adults should be doing something mature.

First of all, going to Disney does not make you immature — it makes you fun.

Secondly, just because it might not be quite as romantic as a tropical location is not a valid reason why it isn't a good vacation spot.

As with any Disney experience around the world, it provokes imagination and a certain sense of nostalgic magic we can't help but fall in love with and remember strongly.

Our memories of the classic films of our generation and the ones before are just as strong as anything else we've learned. We can all quote certain movies and sing every part to any movie as if we're in the sequence ourselves.

When you travel to a Disney theme park, you are living life like you are in your favorite movie.

I'm trying to remember what my good friend Thumper told me in "Bambi," “If you don't got nothing nice to say don't say nothin' at all.”

You get excited to see the characters, even though you know it's a person in a costume because as a young child you wanted to meet that character and get a picture, just like the kids on the commercials did. And you're finally getting the chance to do it.

My sister, who is an equally obsessed Disney fan as myself, and I just booked a weeklong trip to Disney World.

We were fortunate enough to go when we were 9 and 10 years old, respectively, and it has been our lifelong mission to go back and live the true experience for a week.

We went from little girls who would go to every garage sale possible to collect "101 Dalmatian" toys, and now, we will now spend a week at a "101 Dalmatian"-themed hotel. We are actually fulfilling the wish our hearts made.

And although I'm not going a romantic trip with a lover, I am going with the biggest love of my life who shares that same passion as I do.

No, fireworks will not be going on in our hotel room like everyone thinks should happen on a great vacation, but we can watch fireworks from our hotel window, or while we're lounging on a pool floatie watching a movie under the stars.

I can assure you, I could not care less about drinking as much vodka as I want throughout the day while on a beach. I'd much rather have excellent customer service, free transportation throughout a massive size of land that I consider a playground and accomplish my collaborative lifelong dream with my best friend.

I could go on for hours about how much I love Disney and what it stands for, but sadly I can't.

The attention to detail Walt Disney had when creating these parks for families is outstanding and it provides something interesting for anyone and everyone.

It's more than acting like a kid or reminiscing about your youth again. It's imagining the dream you once had and making it a reality.
