Do You Like Eating? Here's How To Boost Your Mood By Doing Just That

by Leigh Weingus

I don't know about you, but when I'm in a bad mood I crave all the wrong things.

A stressful day at work has my craving cookies, ice cream, grilled cheese sandwiches, three slices of pepperoni pizza, the list goes on. (I'm sorry if that list made you extremely hungry.)

Unfortunately, these foods are packed with calories. On top of that, they're full of sugar and fat (and not the good kind). So, although eating half a pint of ice cream is pure bliss and elevates my mood momentarily, 10 minutes later I'm in an even worse mood.

I feel exhausted, guilty and I'm craving even more junk food.

Yep, it's a vicious cycle -- and I know I'm not the only one who does this. So, in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, I consulted registered dietitian Lisa Hayim for the inside scoop on how to boost your mood with diet.

Sadly, ice cream is not on the list of mood-boosting foods. But if you want to keep your stress in check and feel happy all day every day, it's time to stock your pantry with these foods (Avocado is one of them!).
