This One Thing Seriously Messes With Your Sex Life

by Leigh Weingus

When you think of great sex, you probably think of steamy, sleepless nights. You just can't get enough of each other. Who has time for sleep?

Newsflash: Lack of sleep is a huge downer when it comes to your sex life.

It makes sense when you think about it. Lack of sleep leads to stress, stops you from thinking clearly and puts you in a crabby mood.

Who wants to get it on while feeling like crap?

Gynecologist Shahnoz Rustamova told Prevention,

Sleep is essential for your sex drive. Depleted energy means you're less likely to be in the mood.

On top of that, exhaustion leads to anxiety, which seriously kills sex drive.

Psychology professor Robert Thayer told WebMD,

People who experience tense tiredness are too anxious to relax. Tension and anxiety are very basic to sexual dysfunction most of the time. That increases as energy decreases.

And in case you haven't heard of a little hormone called testosterone, it's largely responsible for our sex drives, especially in men.

So if your exhausted boyfriend has a hard time getting it up, give him a break. The poor guy needs sleep!

If you and your SO are going through a dry spell, I suggest logging a few more hours of sleep before deciding your relationship is doomed.

Happy snoozing!
