Get To Know Your Best Actress Nominees

Although the Academy Awards are hours long with so many categories to cover that we just can’t even count them all, everyone anticipates the crowning of the following categories: Best Actor/Actress, Best Supporting Actor/Actress and Best Picture.

Let’s take this time to meet our nominees and find out a little bit more about the nominated leading ladies:

Jessica Chastain: Zero Dark Thirty

Jessica Chastain got her start on TV series such as ER and Veronica Mars. In 2011, Chastain received her first Academy Award nomination for best supporting actress for her role as Celia Foote in The Help. This is her second nomination and first in the category of Best Actress.

Naomi Watts: The Impossible

Watts got her start in the early 90s in small film projects but gained popularity with her role in 2002’s The Ring. Watts has been nominated for an Academy Award once before, for her role in 21 Grams.

Jennifer Lawrence: Silver Linings Playbook

Lawrence received her SAG card after doing a promo for MTV’s My Super Sweet 16 when she was just 14 years old. She’s best known for her role in the film The Hunger Games. Lawrence has been nominated once before for her role in Winter’s Bone in 2010.

Emmanuelle Riva: Amour

Riva is the oldest ever-nominated actress in the leading role category. At 85, she first began her film career in the 50’s. This is her first Oscar nomination.

Quvenzhane Wallis: Beasts of the Southern Wild

Wallis is the youngest ever actress nominated for this category, at age 9. This was her first time ever acting.
