Abortions After Rape Considered Evidence Tampering

by Ally Batista

I have to admit, I’ve never been much of a feminist. I never get ultra offended by male comments towards women and women related issues are never at the top of my priority list. Judge me, but that’s just how I feel.

This issue, however, is enough to anger any woman. Republican state representative Cathrynn Brown, of New Mexico, just proposed a bill that could make it a criminal offense to get an abortion if you were raped.

Why? The bill says: “Tampering with evidence shall include procuring or facilitating an abortion, or compelling or coercing another to obtain an abortion, of a fetus that is the result of criminal sexual penetration or incest with the intent to destroy evidence of the crime.”

So essentially, abortions are consider evidence tampering. This is actually ridiculous. I don’t even personally believe in abortions and this is ridiculous. Granted, I am in favor for abortions due to rape, but this is just plain ignorance.

What do you think?
