If you’re a healthy eater, like myself, sometimes it can be easy to fall into a rut. You’re constantly eating the same foods, and forget about snacking. Variety is limited when you’re trying to eat a balanced diet, which is why I love stumbling across new and simple recipes to try.

If you’re a healthy eater, snacking is sometimes frowned upon, unless the snack in question is low calorie, full of protein and fiber. Why? Because you want to fill yourself up, without loading up on the calories, and keep yourself sane in-between meals.

So try this. Hard-boiled eggs with the yolk popped out, and instead filled with a tablespoon of hummus.

Serve yourself some salsa with a teaspoon of chia seeds mixed in as a means of getting your Omega 3s and fiber intake for the day. Dip some whole grain crackers or sliced vegetables into the salsa for some more filling.

Lastly, have a small and simple salad using flax oil, chunky salsa and cilantro as a dressing.

These three new takes on snacks will keep you happy, full, healthy and thin. What more is there to ask for?
