Red Wine Is Actually Not That Healthy

Uh oh. We’ve all heard multiple times that red wine is actually somewhat good for us. I’ve even heard that having a glass of red wine a day was actually recommended. It must’ve been a woman who made that up, because apparently, red wine isn’t that healthy.

It was once thought that a standard single glass of red wine contained resveratrol, which lowers the risk of heart disease and increases life expectancy in certain woman. While that may be true, it doesn’t change the fact that red wine, calorie wise, is not good for women.

Women metabolize alcohol slower than men do, so it’s a little disheartening to hear a Seattle Internal Medicine physician and Seattle Times columnist, Dr. Linda Pourmassina, state that two –five-ounce glasses of red wine contain the same amount of calories found in a Snickers bar.

Right, so, help your heart, or gain weight, which ultimately can hurt your heart. What do you think is worse? Better yet, will this stop you from drinking so much wine?

I don’t think I can…
