The World’s Upcoming Contraception Problem

It’s pretty easy to get contraception in America, as much as we all complain about it. Anyone can walk into a pharmacy and buy condoms or Plan B and although we argue over how to pay for it, anyone can certainly obtain a prescription for birth control.

Unfortunately, this isn’t the case for women around the world. The United Nations just released a report stating that by 2015 there will be over 200 million women with an unmet need for contraception.

Surprisingly, this number is actually a big drop over what the numbers have been over the past 20 years, but 200 million women in need is still a significant number. Some of the factors keeping women from obtaining birth control are high costs, limited facilities and lack of knowledge.
