Are You Doing This Before Your Makeup Application?

We all have our own personal beauty routines. Some of us apply primer, some of us don’t. Some of us use foundations, others opt for BB Creams. What you prefer is essentially what’s best for you, but there is one step that you should always do before applying your makeup.

It’s simple enough: wash your hands. This may seem like such an obvious step, but many of us don’t even notice that we don’t wash our hands prior to our makeup application. We may think that our hands are already clean, and have been washed… some other time.

Don’t make this mistake, and be sure to wash your hands before applying your makeup. Why? “It is best to be as hygienic as possible with everything, from your hands, brushes, tools and products to your workspace (wherever you apply your makeup),” says NYC-based makeup artist Nina Jafferji.

“We carry natural oils in the palms of our hands, which can contain bacteria that’s easily transferred to your face and your products. By starting with squeaky-clean hands, you’ll avoid contaminating your skin and spreading persistent pimples and blemishes. And then there’s pink eye…”

That’s enough for me. Will you be sure you wash your hands before facial contact now?
