I was never much of a lip color kind of girl. I was really good at just utilizing my cocoa butter swivel stick and that’s it. Recently, I’ve decided to branch out and try wearing color on my lips, and I have to say that I love it.

This guide will be focused on everyday lip color choices. The trick to lip color is honestly finding what’s best for your skin tone. Yes, you may love a certain color, but I’m sorry, we can’t pull off everything. If you’ve ever tried a lipstick and hated how it looked on you, it’s most likely because you’ve tried the wrong shade.

Fair Skin

A light pink, light peach, beige, or golden brown shade would look best on fair skin.

Medium Skin

Try medium pinks, orangey peaches, reds, and apricot shades.

Olive Skin

This is the skin tone I have, and it’s definitely tricky. Dark Rose, Berry, Dark Red and Dark Apricot shades work best for this skin tone.

Dark Skin

Own your dark skin by wearing equally dark lip shades. Brownish reds, dark fuchsias, dark berries and golden beiges work best.

Does this help at all? I hope so.

Why There’s No Such Thing As A Beautiful Girl

“Thin. Pretty. Big tits… Your basic nightmare.” Marie couldn’t have said it better. “When Harry Met Sally” taught me a lot of things, but none more pressing than the arrival of beautiful women in my life. They are indeed my nightmare. My compadres, my sisters, my friends, yet — indeed — my worst f*cking nightmare. And […]

Why Shaving My Head For Cancer Created Controversy For Me

For most of my life, except for that middle school awkward period, I have been fairly confident in my personality and appearance. Nearly four months ago, I had my head shaved at my university’s St. Baldrick’s Day event to raise money for and support children’s cancer research. Right off the bat I received mixed opinions, […]

How ‘Trading Up’ Isn’t Always The Best Way To Live And Can Hurt You

Love is always changing, but sometimes it’s hard to know whether to stick it out with those we are accustomed to or move on to bigger and better things. While there will always be good reasons to upgrade relationships, there are also huge downsides to trading up and leaving behind established friends and lovers. Newer isn’t always better. […]

Kids Reenacting Emmy-Nominated Shows May Be Better Than The Originals

This is adorable. Mom.me put together a video of kids reenacting scenes from some of this year’s Emmy-nominated shows. I’m talking “Game of Thrones,” “Breaking Bad,” “Mad Men” and “Downton Abbey,” to name a few. The kids are actually surprisingly decent actors. Whilst all of the scenes are funny and well-produced, the obvious standout is the […]
