Petitions have the power to do a lot of good in this world, and that’s exactly what the 17-year-old Allana Maiden had in mind when she started a petition on Change.org.

The petition was created in an effort to ask Victoria’s Secret to launch a line of mastectomy bras, and was inspired after watching her mother struggle to find a decent bra, post-mastectomy.

Maiden went to Victoria’s Secret because she felt that the retailer was best, in terms of store locations and price points, to help women searching for practical, and attractive, mastectomy bras.

When she first began the petition, she did not expect for it to garner 120,000 signatures in less than a month and for Victoria’s Secret to pay attention so soon. Limited Brands’ (VS’s owner) VP of External Communications, Tammy Roberts Myers, agreed to sit down with Maiden and her mother to talk about the petition.

As a result, Victoria’s Secret has already begun researching the design process of mastectomy bras and is offering to fly Maiden and her mother to Victoria’s Secret headquarters to meet with developers.

This project is still in very early stages, so the release of the mastectomy bra will take some time, but I’m sure millions of consumers everywhere are anxiously awaiting it.
