Is Coach Launching A Ready To Wear Collection?

I have to admit, I forgot about Coach the second that girls in middle school got a Coach bag for their birthdays (watch out Michael Kors, you’re next). It seems as if Coach has noticed that they’ve become a bit stagnant as well, which could be the fuel behind this fiery rumor.

Is Coach preparing to launch a ready to wear collection? The leather specialty brand has specifically retailed handbags and accessories since it’s induction to the world in 1941, but the CEO seems to have some new plans for the brand in the works.

“The reality is that the marketplace has shifted. We’re responding transformationally to take advantage of the opportunity. It’s not as if we’re static.” Said Lew Frankfort, CEO, to WWD.

Coach has already expanded into the footwear market and sells an apparel accessory here and there, but never have they designed a clothing collection before. Could this possible collection work? Or will it be nothing but a rumor?
