Duro Olowu for JC Penney Lookbook

JC Penney is fairly new to the world of high/low designer collaborations, but for a company who has yet to master the ropes, their collab with Duro Olowu is breathtaking.

Designer Duro Olowu announced earlier in the year that the fashion house and department store would release a limited-edition collection consisting of women’s clothing, shoes, accessories, home accessories and luggage.

The collection is set to launch in stores and at jcp.com beginning in March. The price points for this collaboration are set between $10 and $100.

The collection is absolutely stunning, incorporating digital prints, black and white, Pantone’s 2013 color emerald and gold into androgynous, 1960s-esque silhouettes.

Below are some of my favorite pieces from the collection:

Want To Wear What Beyoncé Would Wear? Now You Can

Beyoncé, or Queen B as her loyal fans (myself included) fondly call her, is a complete style icon. Mrs. Carter is the ultimate glamour girl, and her persona completely inspires confidence and self-worth amongst all of her fans. Women everywhere are inspired by Beyoncé — her hair, her clothes, her attitude — and try to [...]

The Best Dressed Ladies At The 2013 Billboard Music Awards

Music award shows typically do not have the most well dressed attendees. I guess it has something to do with the quirkiness and creativity of musicians and musicians’ red-carpet looks (in Billboard’s case, a blue carpet) are always eclectic, to say the least. Throw in the fact that the Billboard Music Awards are not the [...]

Nicole Kidman’s Latest Campaign

Countless brands have undergone serious adjustments this past year. Creative Directors were hired and fired left and right in 2012, so 2013 is bound to be a year full of new and exciting campaigns and design ideas. One such campaign is that of Jimmy Choo, who has just tapped Nicole Kidman to front their Fall [...]

Peter Som x Anthropologie

It’s been a whopping three days since the news of a high/low designer collaboration has been broken, so of course, we’re way behind on hearing of a new one. Although the news of Anthropologie’s Made in Kind initiative is not new, their latest installment certainly is. Anthropologie’s latest, and perhaps biggest, collaboration has just been [...]

A Model Covering US Vogue Is A Rare Occurrence Today

Years ago, models were everything. They fronted every major campaign, walked down every runway, and were considered to be celebrities as much as Hollywood’s biggest blockbuster’s leading lady. Today, when people think of a model, they think of Karlie Kloss. Ultra thin, ultra tall and primarily working the runways and editorial spreads in Vogue magazine. [...]

Questionable Product Names: The ‘Fatkini’

By no means am I always politically correct. Sometimes I say things that others would think are insensitive, but don’t get me wrong — certain questionable statements definitely get me to raise my eyebrows. Something that always makes me cringe is the use of the word “fat.” Being someone who has struggled with weight and [...]

Brazilian Mascot In The Shape Of Testicles Poses With Little Girls

If you think your favorite sports team has the creepiest mascot of all-time, you haven’t seen anything yet, as a mascot for a recent event in Brazil will have you feeling dumbfounded. Are The Dolphins Really Thinking About Relocating Out Of Miami?

Miami Dolphins CEO Mike Dee suggested on Sunday that the Dolphins may have to relocate at some point. His statement came as a result of Florida legislature’s decision on Friday  to reject hearing a referendum that would have provided public renovations to the Dolphins’ Sun Life Stadium. Dee had said last month that owner Stephen Ross [...]

Grey hair, once an inevitable sign of aging, may have finally met its match. All of the foaming supplements and hair dyes will be obsolete, as a team of European researchers is claiming to have found the origin of grey hair. The researchers believe they have found a way to reverse the process of hair [...]

You Don’t Always Have To Be Nice At Work

It’s tough to find the perfect balance between being nice and assertive at work. If you’re too sweet, you’re considered to be either fake or weak. If you’re too assertive, you’re a bitch and unapproachable. Since finding the perfect median can be difficult, most women usually go with one or the other. Which one should [...]
