I often touch on the topic of mixing patterns and textures, and I feel as if the winter months are the most essential times to utilize contrast in your wardrobe.

The winter is a time when many of us fall into a rut. The days get colder and grayer, and all we want to do is throw on black head to toe and comfortable cashmere sweaters to get you through the dreary weather.

I assure you, that this is not the way to go. Yes, an all black outfit is beautiful and yes, cashmere and thick knit sweaters are a gift from the heavens above, but keeping your outfits simple and boring when the weather takes a turn for the colder can only push you further into your rut.

Challenge yourself in the morning. Mix two things together that you wouldn’t normally and see how your bold choice makes an impact on your mood. I always find that dressing up in the morning and challenging myself wakes me up and motivates me more. Don’t think I’m crazy, try it!

If you’re curious as to what you should try mixing during the winter months, stick to these thee patterns: stripes, polka dots and leopard.

Would you mix patterns this winter?

Ashish […]

‘We Don’t Have A Strategy Yet’: Why The US Can’t Destroy ISIS Alone

Last Thursday, President Obama made headlines for two reasons. Firstly, he wore a khaki suit to a press conference. This is incredibly irrelevant, but the Internet still went insane. It’s a stupid controversy not at all worth even 1/1000th the attention it’s received, but Pres Obama really did not look good in that suit. — […]

Why You Should Be With Someone Who’s Smarter Than You

You’re so good for him! The above phrase is intended to be a compliment but is ultimately the demise of a relationship. I blame the belief that you can accomplish anything through hard work. A boyfriend works the same way, right? Push him, encourage him and support him, and he’ll finally finish his degree, quit his […]

Surprise, Surprise! More People Are Buying Yoga Clothes Than Doing Actual Yoga

In some not so surprising news, more people are buying yoga clothes, while fewer people are doing yoga. REALLY? I had no idea… Well, according to the Wall Street Journal, the amount of people participating in yoga grew 4.5 percent in 2013, while the actual sales of yoga clothing went up 45 percent. Most people simply […]
