Splurge Vs. Save: Rain Boots

I hope that all of our Elite Daily readers were kept safe during Hurricane Sandy. If any of you were affected by the storm, my thoughts are with you. As a New Jersey resident, I have a special place in my heart for all of the victims of the devastation of this storm.

I’ve been unable to post on the women’s section of Elite, due to the storm, but now, we’re back. The weather has been gloomy and rainy, obviously residual effects of the hurricane, so I’ve decided to feature this week’s splurge vs. save on rain boots.

I have to admit, I love rain boots. I would wear them sans rain, and with any ensemble. Maybe I’ll write an article on that… (stay tuned). I also have to admit, I have a personal disdain towards cheap rain boots. The rubber material used to make rain boots must be of high quality, or else the boot simply looks poor.

It’s worth it to invest in a good pair of rain boots. They last long, and honestly, once you’ve experienced a cute outfit and being kept dry, all thanks to rain boots, you’ll be glad you splurged on rubber.

Splurge

Rain boots are available in a number of styles and colors, but I’ve decided to feature this article on the plain and simple: black rubber. This pair of rain boots, by Marni, retail for $430 at Barney’s.

Save

One of the most iconic rain boot companies, Hunter, is always a great go to. This pair of Hunter Regent Equestrian Boots retail for just $150 and look amazing.

Do you own rain boots?
