Woman Designs Absolutely Gorgeous Bathing Suits To Hide Pregnancy Scars (Photos)

As a young woman in sunny Florida, Altrichia Cook spends a lot of time in bathing suits.

After giving birth to her son via C-section, Cook -- who goes by A.Lekay --  realized there were few bathing suits on the market appropriate for young mothers.

Specifically, she had trouble finding fashionable two-pieces that hid the large abdominal scar she felt self-conscious about.

Instead of avoiding the beach or succumbing to a life of boring one-pieces, however, A.Lekay decided to do something about it.

In 2013, A.Lekay worked with a tailor to make a custom high-waisted bikini, one she'd feel both beautiful and confident in.

Originally, she'd planned to keep the design to herself, but after friends expressed interest in the swimsuit on social media, A.Lekay realized she could capitalize on the gap in the market.

Later that year, the mother of one officially launched Allusions by A.Lekay, a swimwear line designed specifically for young mothers.

Two years later, Allusions by A.Lekay is taking off.

In fact, Nicki Minaj models a swimsuit from the brand's Rockstarr Collection for the cover of Cosmopolitan's July issue.

A.Lekay says she's glad she realized the gap in the market when she did.

Feeling “left out,” as she explains to BuzzFeed, gave her the idea to launch the company that's changed so many women's lives.

A.Lekay boasts, “As I have grown, I get so many thank you emails of women thanking me."

She adds, "One instance, a customer told me that she hadn't worn a two-piece swimsuit in over 20 years."

Her goal is to design swimwear that makes women -- scars or no scars -- feel confident and sexy on the beach.
