Shireen Thor, the brand's cofounder, reportedly had the habit of wearing a band on her wrist at all times, in case the need arose for an emergency ponytail.

When her engineer husband began thinking of a way to make accessory stylish, BitterSweet was born.

Thor told Huffington Post, "The bracelet was sparked out of love and creativity to solve a common problem for women."

"Whenever I would look back at pictures of myself with a hair tie elastic on my wrist I would feel unsophisticated."

The cuffs come in gold, black, rose gold and silver and a variety of finishes.
