You Can Actually Dry Wet Nails Faster Using This Everyday Hair Product

by Brit + Co

As someone who feels naked without a manicure, I was shocked to learn hairspray can actually speed up the drying process when you have freshly painted nails.

This fact left me super curious — and super hopeful — about whether it would work or not. If it did? Total game changer.

All you need to do is paint your nails, grab a bottle of hairspray and you're set. If you're concerned about an aerosol, opt for the non-aerosol kind but beware spots of liquid drying on your fresh mani.

This hack to dry nails fast is as simple as it gets: Just paint your nails with two coats of your favorite polish. Wait about a minute to let the polish set a bit.

Then, holding the hairspray can about 8 to 10 inches away from your hands, spray the formula over each nail. Make sure you don't get too close or it'll cause little air bubbles on your nails.

Let them dry for another minute or two, and follow up by washing your hands with soap to remove the sticky hairspray that's left over. Your nails are straight up DRY. Boom.

This is a great beauty hack to turn to when you're in a rush and can't leave the house with totally wet nails. While hairspray doesn't dry them completely, it absolutely speeds up the process, which is priceless when you're trying to avoid those inevitable nail polish nicks.

After all, who has time for imperfect nails?
