Lesbians know a little more about loving than the rest of us, according to the results of a recent study.

The study, published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine, revealed that lesbians report a 74.7 percent orgasm rate in their sexual encounters, meaning they reach an orgasm more frequently than straight women at 61.6 percent and bisexual women at 58 percent.

The study's authors posit that the high climax rate for lesbians may be the result of their increased understanding of female sexuality.

According to the study, "Self-identified lesbian women are more comfortable and familiar with the female body and thus, on average, are better able to induce orgasm in their female partners."

Researchers drew their conclusions from a 2011 study conducted online. Participants reported their sexual partner, rated them in attractiveness and then recorded if they had achieved an orgasm.

Justin R. Garcia, director at Indiana University's Kinsey Institute and one of the study's authors, says that his study could be an important tool in helping other sexual groups orgasm more frequently.

He says,

Understanding the factors that influence variation in orgasm occurrence among sexual minority populations may assist in tailoring behavioral therapies for those of different sexual orientations.

The group that achieved orgasm most frequently? Heterosexual men, with an 85.5 percent orgasm rate.
