It is impossible to ignore the impression given off by the well-dressed woman who looks and feels confident, comfortable and excited about her clothing.  Looking great on the outside essentially triggers happiness on the inside, and the combination of the two results in a woman who is proud of all she that has to offer. However, it takes time to plan an outfit, choose the right accessories and then put it all together for the perfect look to express each woman’s unique individuality.

I am happy to see the resurgence of the maxi skirt for this fall’s fashion-forward fabulous set. There are dozens of new styles, colors and outfits out there! Despite their overwhelming factor of diversity, every look has one thing in common. They flatter the figure, regardless of the woman’s shape, and are versatile enough to be dressed up or down with a simple scarf, belt, jacket or other accessories.

Pair them with a hip-length vest for a long, slenderizing, unified look. If you are less supermodel tall, simply wear your maxi skirt with the perfect pair of shoes—this is where a wedge boot or high-heeled ankle boot comes in handy.

The pleated maxi dress is a wardrobe in and of itself! Paired with a cool wrap and a denim shirt underneath, you will already be good to go. Trade the wrap for a thin cardi and you will be the envy of the jet set. If your aim is to stand out in a crowd, wear a maxi dress in a bold color, paired by a black turtleneck underneath and black high boots.

Chunky necklaces and bangle bracelets are the perfect ingredients to accentuate the look. If you’re more of a shy flower, try your maxi in soft, pale, autumn colors with an off-white cardigan and simple accessories like small hoop earrings or a chain pendant necklace.

Do not fear accessories! Choosing the right accessories is the primary factor that determines whether or not you are a fashionista force to be reckoned with. Decide on the look you want, then choose to either pair a bold necklace with simple earrings or reverse the look and pick dramatic, big hoops to pair with a simple necklace.

If you would prefer a nice splash of color, try a glamorous scarf around the neck. The rules are simple for wearing these versatile fashion accessories. If your skirt is constructed with a patterned fabric, choose a solid scarf in one of the colors that can be found in your skirt. If the skirt is a solid color, go all out with the patterned scarves in complimentary colors. All you have to do at that point is wait for the flattery to come pouring in.

You are going to have fun this fall in your maxi skirt, boots and accessories. They will help you exude confidence and excitement as you turn heads an re-discover your inner fashionista!

Why Shaving My Head For Cancer Created Controversy For Me

For most of my life, except for that middle school awkward period, I have been fairly confident in my personality and appearance. Nearly four months ago, I had my head shaved at my university’s St. Baldrick’s Day event to raise money for and support children’s cancer research. Right off the bat I received mixed opinions, […]

A Letter To All Single Mothers: Thank You For Everything

Dear Mommy, Though you may have spent the past decade trying to rid me of this habit, I will always call you “Mommy” and never “Mom.” Throughout my life and yours, people have been forever walking in and out — some entering and leaving peacefully, others bulldozing through only to leave the door wide open […]

Confused Cats Hate Feminism, But Their Reasons Are Pretty Legit (Photos)

A new Tumblr called “Confused Cats Against Feminism” seems to be a response to the baffling #WomenAgainstFeminism hashtag, but it needs no real reason to exist. Photos of cats holding signs that say exactly why they don’t need feminism is truly what the Internet needed. Among other reasons, cats don’t need feminism because, instead, they […]

This Dog Has No Idea What To Do After Receiving 100 Balls For Its Birthday

Dogs love playing fetch with their favorite chewed up tennis ball or brightly colored plastic toy; it’s their favorite pastime. But sometimes, too much of a good thing can be bad. Yawns are definitely contagious. When watching this adorable baby hedgehog let out a big yawn, I couldn’t help but follow suit. Poised For Success: 5 Lessons To Be Learned Through Dance

Dance has been a major on-again, off-again part of my life since I was 5 years old. Growing up, I tried basketball, soccer and several other sports, but dance is the only one I ever stuck with. After finally getting back into it, after almost four years, I feel like a huge void in my […]

Who Cares Who’s Right In Gaza — It’s Not Our Place To Judge

A Canadian judging the actions of Israel and Palestine is like a house cat that wanders outdoors and wonders why the strays keep gouging each other’s eyes out over chicken bones. When quality of life statistics vary between “very good” and “better,” it’s easy to condemn dirty dealings half a world away. That’s the truth: […]

The Dark Side Of Hustle: 3 Habits That Derail Success For Female Entrepreneurs

As entrepreneurial women, our hustle — the ability to act on ideas, shift gears to meet new opportunities and accomplish things — is our greatest asset. As many serial entrepreneurs will attest, if unchecked, it’s also our greatest liability. Here are three common entrepreneurial habits that may be derailing (or at least curtailing) your business: […]
