Myths We Thought Were True In High School Thanks To These Gen-Y Movies

Remember when you were a really impressionable 8-year-old who believed in fiction? Zack Morris and Kelly Taylor were your big brother and sister. Because we had yet to experience what high school was really like, we turned to movies and television for a preview.

Maybe you thought that everyone in high school fit into a stereotypical clique – the jocks, the geeks, the cheerleaders. Or maybe you thought that high schoolers accidentally killed people, à la “I Know What You Did Last Summer.”

Cher and Josh made us think that it’s okay to hook-up with your former step-brother.

As kids, we are inspired by these films and we look forward to finally entering high school so that we can attend house parties and make-out with The Guy Who’s A Really Big Deal. And yet, these things never end up happening, which makes it all the more fun to laugh about now.

Whatever your misconception, boy were we wrong…
