H&M’s New Clothing Recycling Initiative

I’m almost positive that this initiative was enacted in efforts to relieve the criticisms H&M is currently undergoing post Greenpeace’s Toxic Threads report, but it could also be one of the greatest campaigns in fast fashion this year.

Come February, H&M will offer a discount to anyone who brings in their old clothes for recycling. Boxes will be placed amongst the store where you can donate your clothing in exchange for a 15% discount off of one item of your choice.

The clothing you donate doesn’t necessarily have to be in good condition or carry an H&M label, it just has to be wearable. I for one think this a huge step in sustainability and think that other retailers should follow suit.

What do you think?
