Today is a big day in the step toward equality amongst the sexes. It has just been reported that President Obama will appoint Julia Pierson as the first female director of his Secret Service.

Pierson is not unfamiliar to the Secret Service. She has been chief of staff to the director since August 2008. Her career as a special agent began in 1983 in a Miami field office. In 2000, she was promoted to special agent in charge of protective operations.

Pierson surely seems suited to replace Mark Sullivan as director of the Secret Service, who retired this past February.
