Spotted on the steps of the Met: B. and R. looking more in love every year.
Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds have been married since September 2012. Since their surprise wedding, the couple has kept their romance pretty private. Luckily, they do give fans some much-desired insight into their relationship when they walk the Met Gala red carpet. The best part? (Besides the fashion, obvi.) Over the years, they only look more and more smitten.
Lively and Reynolds attended their first Met Gala as a couple in 2014, two years after their wedding. The theme was Charles James: Beyond Fashion, and both Lively and Reynolds were up to the task. Wearing Gucci, they looked incredible together
For Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between, Lively dressed in a sparkling Versace gown with blue feather accents, while Reynolds wore a blue bow tie matching the bottom of her dress. Together, the duo channeled major prom king and queen energy — sweet smiles, included.
Lively’s dress for Heavenly Bodies belongs in a museum. (Might I suggest the Met?) From her Versace gown to her halo-inspired crown, she was definitely in the running for best dressed that year. Her outfit included a sweet nod to her husband and children, too.
Though Reynolds did not attend the Met Gala with Lively, he was with her in spirit (and in her handbag). One on side, Lively’s clutch featured their family crest with B, R, J, I — the initials for her, Reynolds, and their two children, James and Inez. (Their youngest daughter, Betty, wasn’t born yet.)
Lively and Reynolds were finally back at the Met together for Gilded Glamour, and they came ready to impress. Lively wore an Atelier Versace gown that literally transformed colors on the steps of the Met, going from a rusty rose color to light blue. Though Reynolds’ look was more understated, they still looked amazing together.
Though Reynolds left Lively’s side for her big dress reveal, there is actually a video of him applauding her Met Gala moment. (Supportive husbands for the win!)
