And no, I’ll never forgive production for their edit.
On night one of her Bachelorette journey, Lindsay gave Abasolo her first impression rose. “From the moment you walked out of the limo, I felt something that was unexplainable,” she told him.
In one of the windiest proposals in Bachelor history, Lindsay and Abasolo got engaged. “This day was a dream come true! Bryan you have shown me a love that I've never had before,” she wrote about the proposal on IG, “I am so excited to spend forever with you.” So cute!
Despite backlash (aka trolls saying she should have chosen Kraus), Lindsay did not back down from defending her choice. “Bryan was [my] person. I’m only in love with one person through that entire season. I wanted that proposal to be all about Bryan. I wanted him to be the focus,” she said in 2017. “It’s crazy the chemistry that we have between each other and how compatible we are.”
A month after their wedding, breakup rumors started, based solely on the fact that Lindsay and Abasolo hadn’t posted on IG together recently. Lindsay addressed the speculation with her signature, no BS attitude. “[M]y #mcm goes to the man who is a permanent fixture in my life and not just one on my Instagram profile.” 👀
Lindsay and Abasolo lived on opposite sides of the country even after they were married. (Lindsay in L.A., and Abasolo in Miami.) But they put in the work to keep their romance strong. Abasolo said, "For me, I want you to go do your thing in L.A., I want you to be as successful as possible. You're killing it right now, and I love it.”
Lindsay added, “We know where we're going, we know where we're headed, and we know what we're trying to build as Abasolos.”
“We’re going to be raising biracial children,” Abasolo said in Jan. 2021. “It’s going to take us immersing each other even more in each other’s culture[s] once we have kids because we want to co-parent the right way.”
In 2021, Lindsay interviewed Chris Harrison about Rachael Kirkconnell’s past of racial insensitivity, which resulted in Harrison asking Lindsay, “Who are you?” to judge Kirkconnell.
Abasolo defended his wife, “I’ll tell you who she is, Chris. She’s Rachel motherf*cking Lindsay. A strong Black woman, a pioneer in this franchise, the realest Bachelorette who tells it like it is and quite frankly, the best thing to ever happen to this franchise.”
I can’t wait to see even more power couple moments in their future, and I have a feeling I won’t have to wait long. In the meantime, I’ll be swooning over Abasolo’s “She’s Rachel motherf*cking Lindsay!” quote. (Can you blame me?)
