Sorry, 'Bachelor' Fans: Ben Higgins And Lauren Bushnell Have Reportedly Broken Up
Ben Higgins and Lauren Bushnell have called it quits, People confirms.
The two said in a statement to People,
It is with heavy hearts that we announce our decision to go our separate ways. We feel fortunate for the time we had together, and will remain friends with much love and respect for one another. We wish nothing but the best for each other, and ask for your support and understanding at this time.
Elite Daily reached out for comment to both Ben and Lauren's teams but did not hear back at the time of publication.
Lauren Bushnell was the winner of Ben's season of "The Bachelor." Higgins famously told both Lauren and JoJo Fletcher that he loved them, then proposed to Lauren in the season finale.
Telling two women you love them is unheard of (and kind of against the rules) in "Bachelor" universe. JoJo was visibly shocked when he said it on the Fantasy Suite episode of the season, but Lauren apparently had no idea he told JoJo he loved her until after they were engaged and the season was prepping to air.
It reportedly caused problems for their relationship, and JoJo talking about Ben all the time on her season didn't help the couple either.
Fans are already reacting to the news.
Less than a year after their season of "The Bachelor" ended, Ben and Lauren had a show on Freeform called "Ben and Lauren: Happily Ever After?" And now we know why the title had a question mark at the end.
The show was all about the couple planning their wedding and their future together, but I guess those plans didn't really work out for them.
AWKWARD.
According to People, Ben and Lauren were doing couples' counseling at their church. Ben said, "We're not the perfect couple. Far from it! But we are trying really hard and we love each other a lot.”
Lauren added,
There are so many weird elements to being in a relationship after 'The Bachelor.' We've gotten in arguments like any other couple, but about some things that other couples wouldn't have to fight about, like the fact that we met when he was dating other women. You can say that's what I signed up for, but it's still real life and it's still hard.
Honestly, this breakup news isn't shocking. "Bachelor" relationships never last.
Just ask Nick Viall and Vanessa Grimaldi, they'll probably be next on the "Bachelor" breakup list, unless JoJo Fletcher and Jordan Rodgers can beat them to it.
