Apparently, things are getting violent between two of the biggest male pop stars.

Ed Sheeran revealed he left Justin Bieber black and blue after bashing him in the face with a golf club... but it wasn't an intentional beating!

Confused? Yeah, it's a pretty wild story...

Sheeran said he was out at a bar with the Biebs in Japan, but since Justin was only chugging water, Sheeran decided to drink enough for the both of them.

Well, apparently the pair wound up on a golf course later that night, and Bieber challenged Sheeran to hit a golf ball from a tee that he was holding with his teeth. (Wait, I thought Bieber was sober??)

So anyway, that's the scene: Justin Bieber lying on the ground with a golf tee in his mouth, holding up a golf ball that he wanted an intoxicated Ed Sheeran to try to hit. What could go wrong!? Well... I'll let Ed explain the rest himself.

He told the Guardian,

I was like, 'Fuck, I need to aim this properly,' and I swung. And you know in films when someone gets punched, and you hear that fake sound, like a slap? But in real life when someone gets punched, you hear that dull thud, a bit sickening? I heard a sound like the last one, and saw his security guard looking at me [horrified]. I'd cracked Justin Bieber right in the cheek with a golf club. That was one of those 'What the fuck?' moments.

Ouch! Not exactly the smash hit that the two chart-toppers are used to...

And it's pretty likely this traumatic tee-off happened just a few weeks ago.

According to Sheeran's story, he and Bieber were hanging out in a Japanese dive bar the night this happened.

Interestingly enough, at the beginning of February, Sheeran said he and Biebs had just met up to sing karaoke together at a Japanese dive bar a couple days earlier, so the Bieber-bashing probably went down just about a month ago.

Although the golf club bashing sounds pretty intense, it doesn't look like it left a mark on Biebs. If the incident did occur in early February, that was also the exact same time Bieber came back to Instagram and posted a few selfies to celebrate his return.

There isn't a sign of a golf club beating anywhere on his face in those shots.

Looks like the two have put the drunken mistake behind them.
