Gigi Hadid Celebrates Her Palestinian Heritage On The First Vogue Arabia Cover
Gigi Hadid's tribute to her Palestinian heritage is absolutely stunning.
The 21-year-old model was recently honored with the cover of Vogue Arabia's first-ever issue.
Instead of just doing a standard magazine spread, Hadid decided to use the opportunity to sport a bejeweled headscarf in honor of her half-Palestinian heritage.
The pictures are incredible.
Gigi posted the pictures to her Instagram account on Wednesday night, captioning the post,
I think the beautiful thing about there being international Vogue's is that, as a fashion community, we are able to celebrate, and share with the world, different cultures. Being half-Palestinian, it means the world to me to be on the first-ever cover(s) of @voguearabia, and I hope that this magazine will show another layer of the fashion industry's desire to continue to accept, celebrate, and incorporate all people & customs and make everyone feel like they have fashion images and moments they can relate to... & learn and grow in doing so. ❤ Thank you @deenathe1st for your vision and for having me on this cover... by the incredible @inezandvinoodh - so much love.
Vogue Arabia also shared some of the pictures, calling Hadid the model of the year.
The series was shot by photographers Inez and Vinoodh, who shared other shots of Gigi to their own Instagram account.
They captioned the post,
Wow this face!! Proud and excited to be the one to shoot the first cover and inside beauty images of #VogueArabia featuring the ultimate beauty @gigihadid styled by @brandonmaxwell hair by @ward_hair make up by #yadim nails by @ginaviv kisses iv thank you @voguearabia @deenathe1st
The release of the pictures come shortly after Hadid was featured on the cover of Vogue's controversial diversity issue with fellow models Kendall Jenner and Ashley Graham.
Readers claimed that while the cover did feature a racially diverse cast, it didn't showcase a diverse group of body types.
The first edition of Vogue Arabia is set to release Spring of 2017.
