Gigi Hadid Is Joining Kim Kardashian And Taking A Break From Social Media
Sometimes I try to remember what it was that I did before social media took over my life.
What did I fill my hours with before I could tweet out my sometimes funny thoughts on Twitter? How did I only pick the 12 hottest pictures of myself to showcase on MySpace? How did I know my older family members were racist before reading their Facebook memes?
I couldn't imagine taking a break, and I don't even have 88.7 million Instagram followers like Kim Kardashian has nor the 26.3 million followers that Gigi Hadid boasts.
Still, Gigi Hadid is following in Kim K's footsteps and announced at Reebok's #PerfectNever panel that she will be taking a month-long break from social media in the new year.
Women on the internet get to experience a special kind of troll that no one else does -- especially women who are famous.
Yes, models like Gigi Hadid have to deal with body-shamers, who either say she's way too thin or not the "right size" for a model.
Taking a break from social media for a month will probably be extremely healthy for the Victoria's Secret Angel.
Alongside gymnast Aly Raisman, Ruby Rose, Zoe Kravitz and Lena Dunham, Gigi spoke of what it meant to be a woman in their industry, how there's no one they can be better than but themselves and how they challenge "perfection."
Hadid, after becoming the spokeswoman for the #PerfectNever campaign, wrote on her Instagram,
'Perfect' never exceeds expectation. It doesn't allow us to reach our full potential. May we be confident and have love for who we are, but, in all that we are passionate about, may we always remember that Good is the enemy of GREAT.
Gigi's fans, however, totally understand why she needs to take a break.
We can't imagine why she'd have haters either.
And plenty of people want her to know that she is major inspo.
The question remains -- how will we survive without Gigi updates?
