Jimmy Fallon Got Celebs To Sing Christmas Carols And The Video Is Too Cute
Jimmy Fallon and Paul McCartney want you to simply have a wonderful Christmastime.
With Thanksgiving out of the way and Jesus' birthday around the corner, we are in the midst of PRIME Christmas music season: "Deck The Halls," "Little Drummer Boy," that one where Mariah Carey just goes "Alllllll I wannnnntttt for Christmassss isssssssSSSSSssssssSSSSS youuuuuuuuuuuu" for 45 minutes.
They're all pulling a Santa*
*Pulling a Santa means they're coming to town.
We're 2016 years into this whole Christmas thing, which means we've probably heard all of the good Christmas songs by now. I doubt some musical prodigy has been holding back a brand new Christmas jam that's gonna rank up there with "Silent Night."
Most likely we're going to have to rely on covers of older songs and thanks to Jimmy Fallon we now have a new classic to throw on our Christmas iTunes playlist.
"The Tonight Show" host teamed up with The Roots and Paul McCartney to bring this modern cover of "Wonderful Christmas Time" to life.
They're joined by Scarlett Johansson, Reese Witherspoon, Matthew McConaughey, Seth McFarlane and Tori Kelly, as well as their counterparts from the animated movie "Sing."
This isn't the first time Jimmy had pulled a holiday-themed move like this.
A few years ago, he famously was joined by Maria Carey on his show to cover "All I Want For Christmas Is You" with The Roots playing with classroom instruments.
I'm pretty sure having Mariah Carey on to sing that song in a gimmicky way is a right of passage if you're a late night host.
Last week, the 46-year-old pop icon made her way over to James Corden's car to do some Christmas-themed carpooling on "The Late Late Show."
As far as I'm concerned, I'd be totally ok with every Christmas song for now on just being Mariah singing "All I Want For Christmas" in weird late-night bits.
