Leanne From ‘Orange Is The New Black’ Is Unrecognizable In Real Life

Actresses have to change their appearance for roles on the regular -- think Nicole Kidman wearing a fake nose to play Virginia Woolf in The Hours, or Emilia Clarke and her Daenerys wig for Game of Thrones.

But it's not just actresses in period pieces or fantasy realms who undergo transformations in front of the cameras. Actresses in "present day" shows undergo it too.

Take the ladies of Orange is the New Black. One would think playing inmates in a jail cell would be the opposite of makeup and visual changes, but even a character like Leanne Taylor, played by actress Emma Myles looks totally different on screen than she does in real life.

In OITNB, Leanne is one of the antagonist types, a meth head and a (slightly pathetic) follower of whatever group will have her. Her look in Litchfield seems like one we've seen in any Wal-Mart -- the thin straggly hair, the bad teeth, the over freckled (and rather picked at) skin.

But just wait until you get a load of what Emma Myles looks like in real life!

Emma Myles thinks her character's backstory and her descent into being a meth head is one of the saddest in the series. When it was revealed she was originally Amish back in Season 3, she said it shocked her at first, but then saddened her to realize all Leanne really wanted to do was go home.

She revealed in an interview with Buzzfeed,

It would've been a lot less sad had she gone on her Rumspringa and gotten arrested and then ended up in prison. But she makes the active choice to commit to her religion and she still ends up in Litchfield. ... I get emotional thinking about it. When we were shooting me in my bedroom, and then when I kind of look in on my parents as I'm about to leave, I could not stop crying.

Don't cry too much Emma, you might make that amazing eye game run.
