Lili Reinhart Defends Cole Sprouse After Fan Called Them "Disgusting And Rude"
Lili Reinhart is the best, you guys. Not only does she slay as Betty Cooper on Riverdale, but she also slays on social media. Cole Sprouse, her rumored boyfriend, also has one of the funniest Twitter accounts on the planet, so put them together and you've got some great content. But even though Reinhart likes to crack jokes on Twitter, she knows when to get serious. In a series of tweets yesterday, Sept. 5, Lili Reinhart defended Cole Sprouse after a fan tweeted a thread about them saying they were “disgusting and rude” for not indulging her as a fan when she ran into them in Vancouver. In a series of tweets, the user tweeted,
I went down to Vancouver tonight and bumped into the cast of Riverdale … I love that show and I was kinda drunk so I kinda approached @colesprouse in a friendly way as if I knew him … That's just my personality tho right I'm just friendly like that … The prick was like 'who the f*ck are you' and was just so rude so I just walked away … because of the fact that I'm brown and considering he's from Australia it makes perfect sense … Basically moral of the story downtown Vancouver is trash and the cast of @RiverdaleCW are disgusting and rude. If you're a celebrity you gotta deal with the consequences, you know you're signing up for public to talk to you, otherwise just quit … I just wanna say F*CK RUDE PEOPLE, don't become a celeb if u want privacy, u get paid for having fans so respect them or be nice at least.
First off, Sprouse definitely is not from Australia. Maybe she got him confused with K.J. Apa, who plays Archie? Second, I'm dying to see Reinhart's response to this. Luckily, she responded to the thread pretty quickly with one of her own. She tweeted,
You do not have the right to approach STRANGERS and throw your arms around us like you know us. What you did was not cool and inappropriate … Cole's response to you was 'Do I know you?' After you rudely invaded our space and got in our faces … It's easy to make us look like the bad guys because you think there's no chance in hell we would ever call you out on it. Here you go.
Dammnnnn, Betty! You tell her! Ultimately, Reinhart is right. This fan doesn't buy the rights to invading a celebrity's privacy just because they're a fan of the show they star in, and she definitely doesn't have the right to physically approach a complete stranger, no matter how famous they are.
Lots of people are of the opinion that deciding to be famous means you're willingly signing over your rights to privacy, but that's not true at all. Yes, you're choosing to put your life under a certain degree of spotlight, but that doesn't give anyone the right to physically approach a person without their consent, let alone a stranger. Remember, you may know who a celebrity is because of their work, but you're a complete stranger in their eyes.
