Simone Biles Responds To Shocking 'DWTS' Elimination After Flawless Performance
Monday night's "Dancing with the Stars" ended in shock after Simone Biles and her partner, Sasha Farber, were eliminated from competition.
The night was going perfect for the 20-year-old gymnast up until the very end. She and Farber earned their only two perfect scores of the season for their jive and rumba and received well-deserved praise from all the judges.
When it was announced Biles and Farber would be going home, it was the judges and the co-hosts who couldn't hide their surprise and disappointment, even more so than Biles.
Len Goodman literally buried his face in his hands over the news while fellow judges Bruno Tonioli, Carrie Ann Inaba and Julianne Hough looked on in disbelief.
Biles, who is the most decorated female gymnast in Olympic history, took the news in stride.
Speaking to ET backstage after the show, she said,
I have been going since the Olympics non-stop and then I came into here to 'Dancing With the Stars' and the experience was wonderful... I feel like I found out a lot about myself -- not just 'Gymnastics Simone' but 'Normal Simone.'
On the topic of her perfect scores and the improvement from last week, she shared,
I feel like for me that's a win in itself, whether America [voted] for it or not, for me, it's like, 'It's fine.'
She also said she's ready for a little R&R and perhaps a break from the whirlwind spotlight she's been basking in since Rio. She happily joked,
I feel like I've been at a high so much, no one wants to see my name again on social media, I mean come on. Sometimes I'm sick of my own name. On the radio [I hear] 'Simone Biles' and I'm like, 'Oh my god, shut up!'
While the Olympic athlete may be a perfectionist when it comes to her sport, she's definitely keeping her run on the reality show in perspective. She told ET,
This isn't my element. If it were gymnastics I'd be like, 'You know what Simone, you better get back into the gym.' But I don't know how to dance in heels! I was still tripping yesterday.
Farber had more than a few nice things to say about his petite partner.
While hugging her backstage, he said,
This has literally has been a dream come true to work with her. She's grown so much as a person and I wish she was in the finals, I wish she won this whole competition and I wish the best for her. I'm going to be there cheering her on at the next Olympics with a huge sign saying 'Go Simone!'
Moving on to the finals next week are NFL running back Rashad Jennings and his partner, Emma Slater, Fifth Harmony singer Normani Kordei with Val Chmerkovskiy and former Chicago Cubs catcher David Ross and his partner, Lindsay Arnold.
When asked who she thinks will take home the season 24 trophy, Biles didn't hesitate to choose Rashad Jennings.
Tune in on Monday and Tuesday next week at 8 pm ET to see who wins it all.
