Demi Lovato is officially back on the road. On Sept. 22, the “29” singer, who uses she/her and they/them pronouns, embarked on the North American leg of their Holy Fvck tour. These photos of their first show in Sacramento prove they’re having a rocking time on stage.
In an Aug. 18 interview with The Los Angeles Times, Lovato explained recording Holy Fvck let her come to terms with the anger she felt following a January stint in rehab. “These new songs are about taking the power back and owning my anger,” she said.
According to a press release, Lovato opened their concert in Sacramento with the new song “Holy Fvck.” The track features heavy drum and guitar sounds, making it the perfect song to get fans up from their seats and dancing.
According to setlist.fm, Lovato also performed their single “29,” which fans have speculated is about their ex-boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama, as well as other Holy Fvck-era songs like “Eat Me,” “Substance,” and “Skin of My Teeth.”
According to a press release, Lovato performed with an all-female band. Nita Strauss was on guitar, Leanne Bowes played the bass, Brittney Bowen rocked out on the drums, and Dani McGinley played the keys.
At one point during her show, Lovato brought up opening act Dead Sara’s lead singer Emily Armstrong to perform their collaboration “Help Me” together.
Up next, Lovato will perform across the United States in cities like Las Vegas, Detroit, Boston, Toronto, New York, Atlanta, and more. She’ll wrap up her tour on Nov. 6 in Irving, Texas.
Tickets for the Holy Fvck tour are on sale now on Lovato’s official website.
