RELAX, GUYS. DEMI IS JUST COMING DOWN FROM A RAGE BLACKOUT.

Last night, Demi Lovato used Instagram as a platform to explain her Twitter digs at fellow pop superstar Taylor Swift.

The “Confident” singer criticized Tay Tay yesterday for not speaking out regarding peer Kesha's legal struggle to be released from a record contract with her alleged abuser Dr. Luke.

Taylor then donated $250,000 to aid in Kesha's legal battle, but Demi took issue with the Grammy winner's inability to actually verbalize her support for their fellow singer.

The Internet began to fault Demi and Taylor for stealing attention from the issue at hand and demonizing one another in the name of “feminism.”

On Monday evening, Demi took to Instagram to insist, “our focus should be… on the victims of sexual and physical abuse,” and posted a graphic detailing how few rapists are forced to pay for their crimes.

In the caption, Demi wrote,

I tend to get fired up about the things I believe in, and although my heart and intentions are always in the right place, unfortunately sometimes my passion gets the best of me… And when doing so it takes away from the real reason I am speaking up in the first place. Our focus should be on the topic of victims of sexual and physical abuse being afraid to come forward with their stories. They're more likely to face retaliation and harassment than to see justice being served. Especially women… Everyone has their own way of giving support to others , and at the end of the day, helping victims is all that matters. Ultimately, the message I want people to hear is it's okay to come forward with your abuse and if you do decide to take action, you are not alone.

Amen, Dem. So many influential women scrambling to help a sister in her time of need is an overwhelming positive, despite any snags along the way.
