Emily In Paris’ first season was a messy fish-out-of-water fun and Parisian drama mixed with high fashion and even higher fantasy. The series grew into a larger ensemble for its second round of episodes, and this Season 2 recap breaks down the action character by character.

Emily

After sleeping with Gabriel in Season 1, Emily tried to force a relationship with Mathieu, but it went nowhere. When Mathieu warned Camille that Gabriel was unfaithful and she realized Emily was the other woman, she insisted on a pact for both to stay away from him.

Alfie

Camille planned to find Emily a new man. At first, the London-based Alfie from Emily’s French class seemed unlikely; he thought everything Emily loved about Paris was fake. But by Season 2’s end, he was falling for Emily as she found herself torn between him and Gabriel.

Camille

Camille’s pact with Emily was only to get her out of the way. By the end of the season, Camille and Gabriel were back together, and she had what she wanted.

Gabriel

Emily slept with Gabriel because he was leaving Paris after breaking it off with Camille. But he changed plans when Antoine funded him a Parisian restaurant. Despite the drama, Gabriel focused on his dream, staying friends with Emily and moving in with Camille.

Sylvie

Sylvie remained annoyed by Emily’s American ideals in Season 2 — even more so once Madeline showed up. Though Madeline technically outranks her as the envoy from Savior’s American owners, Sylvie fought back at every turn, finally quitting and taking the staff with her.

Julien & Luc

After saving Emily from being fired in Season 1, Luc and Julien remained her champions at Savior in Season 2. Unfortunately, they sided with Sylvie over Madeline’s American notions, exiting the firm at Season 2's end and leaving Emily as the only employee.

Madeline

Emily initially went to Paris because Madeline was pregnant and couldn’t go. So when the boss showed up in France ready to pop, it was a bad sign. Emily watched Madeline destroy Savior with good intentions, torn over loyalty to her old mentor and the company she loved.

Antoine

Savior’s main client exited by the end of the season. Emily’s American boss, Madeline, discovered how little he paid Savior; she informed Antoine they’d be raising fees, not knowing there was an under-the-sheets discount between him and Sylvie. Unimpressed, he walked.

Pierre Cadault

With Antoine out, one major Savoir client remained: Pierre Cadault. But at the end of Season 2, he got pissed and fired Savoir. That likely leaves Madeline and Sylvie to fight to represent him in Season 3.

Mindy

While Emily’s life was in upheaval, Mindy struggled with her band. She and Benoit broke up when he learned she was rich, but they got back together because their chemistry was too strong. Meanwhile, Mindy kept performing bops, including the instantly iconic “Mon Soliel.”

Benoît & Etienne

Benoît wrote "Mon Soliel" after falling for Mindy, kicking off their relationship. It was Etienne who initially figured out about her billionaire father and who helped smooth over the breakup that ensued. By the end of the season, the trio was stronger than ever.
