The first season of HBO Max’s Gossip Girl reboot had almost too much gossip to keep up with. To refresh your memory on all the scandal, drama, and backstabbing ahead of Season 2’s Dec. 1 premiere, here’s a very necessary recap.

After her dad was convicted for sexual assault, Julien moved in with her half-sister Zoya. But the real twist was when she formed a partnership with Gossip Girl in the finale, agreeing to send all her dirt on her friends to the blogger.

As Gossip Girl, Kate accepted Julien’s proposal, but said she had one condition. The season ended without revealing what that condition could be, but it’s clear Kate and Julien will be teaming up in Season 2.

Zoya
Thanks to some funding from Julien’s dad, Zoya was able to stay in New York with her dad despite their financial troubles. Her strained relationship with Julien also seemed to be mended, so things are looking up for Zoya.

After going back and forth dating both Julien and Zoya in Season 1, Obie ended up with neither of them. Although Julien tried to get him back, he brushed her off and began seeing a new girl named Grace.

After spiraling from his dads’ divorce, Max finally agreed to enter a three-way relationship with Aki and Audrey, despite initially feeling expendable to them. Now the three are an official throuple heading into Season 2.

Her newly defined relationship with Aki and Max may sound promising, but Audrey is still struggling to help her disgraced mother Kiki recover from sepsis and try to get her fashion line back.

Aki also has some parent trouble. His powerful media magnate father Roger wasn’t super accepting of his son’s bisexuality, even using it as a deflection when reports of his company’s anti-LGBTQ+ policies come out.

Monet
She may have started as Julien’s sidekick, but now Monet is ready to take her crown. Convinced that Julien had lost her edge, Monet decided to take the queen bee status for herself. Season 2 will be a Julien versus Monet faceoff.

In the middle of the Julien-Monet feud is Luna. She’s still Julien’s stylist and confidant, but now that her bestie Monet is drawing battle lines, Luna has some difficult decisions to make in Season 2.
