Johnny Depp is determined to keep the details surrounding his trial and divorce with Amber Heard as quiet as possible.

The 53-year-old actor who allegedly physically abused his wife filed a petition to keep all forthcoming legal proceedings on the divorce private, according to a report from PEOPLE.

PEOPLE obtained court documents that state Depp requests all information surrounding the case, including financial information and statements from witnesses, remain inaccessible to the public.

Depp is also requesting to require all witnesses who testify to sign a nondisclosure agreement.

Depp's legal team claims the reason for these requests is to keep the divorce out of media and public consumption.

The petition reportedly states,

Amber's need for financial information to resolve this case is distinct from the public's appetite for celebrity divorce. This case has been extraordinarily public since its inception. There have been daily articles in the domestic and foreign press about this proceeding and the parties' lives. Every detail of this action has been chronicled by the media and it has become one of the most heavily publicized celebrity divorces in recent memory.

It goes on to say Depp's lawyers asked Heard to agree to keep all proceedings quiet, but she refused to sign a confidentiality agreement.

Amber Heard filed a temporary restraining order against Depp back in May, as well as an official report with pictures of his alleged physical abuse.

An official hearing was originally scheduled for June 17, 2016, but it was postponed until August 2, 15 and 16 of this year.
