Liam Payne's Girlfriend Reveals She Was About To Marry Him
"A few weeks ago, we sat outside on a beautiful evening manifesting our lives together."
Liam Payne has died after falling from the third floor of a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina. On Oct. 16, local police were called to the CasaSur Palermo Hotel after reports of "an aggressive man who could be under the effects of drugs and alcohol,” per Reuters, though the police’s statement did not identify that man was Payne.
Payne’s death was confirmed by the director of emergency services in Buenos Aires, Alberto Crescenti, per the New York Times.
The former One Direction band member was 31 and is survived by his son Bear, age 7. Following his death, Payne family’s released a statement to BBC. “We are heartbroken. Liam will forever live in our hearts and we'll remember him for his kind, funny and brave soul,” the statement read. “We are supporting each other the best we can as a family and ask for privacy and space at this awful time.”
On Oct. 18, Payne’s girlfriend Kate Cassidy posted a statement to her IG Stories. “Thank you for all of the kind words and love that has been sent my way. I have been at a complete loss. Nothing about the past few days have felt real,” she wrote. “I ask and pray that you’ll give me the grace and space to navigate this in private.”
Cassidy ended her post with a message to Payne. “Liam, my angel. You are everything. I want you to know I loved you unconditionally and completely. I will continue to love you for the rest of my life. I love you Liam,” she wrote.
Cassidy posted a lengthier statement a few days later on Instagram. “Liam, you had the kindest soul and the most fun-loving spirit. It feels like I’ve lost the best part of myself,” she wrote in an Oct. 23 tribute. “I can’t imagine a day without your laughter and love. You brought so much light into my life.”
The model went on to reveal that she and Payne had discussed getting married prior to his death. “A few weeks ago, we sat outside on a beautiful evening manifesting our lives together,” Cassidy wrote. “I keep your note close, even though you told me not to look at it. It said, ‘Me and Kate to marry within a year/engaged & together forever 444.’”
