Stars came out to show off their boldest looks at the 2022 Met Gala, which was co-hosted by Vogue’s Anna Wintour. Despite the guest list, fans on Twitter couldn’t stop thinking about one famous couple: Shrek and Fiona, the subject of meme gold.

The theme of the 2022 Met Gala was the Gilded Age, and Shrek had a perfect look to fit the theme.
Fans always love to judge whether or not the Met Gala attendees understood the assignment, and they found just the right Shrek screenshot to fit this year’s theme.
Some fans thought Shrek and Fiona’s costumed look would fit right in on the Met Gala red carpet.
Fans also were reminded of Shrek and Fiona walking their own big red carpet in Shrek 2.
Meanwhile, other fans thought Shrek’s look was toned down compared to what some of the celebs had on at the 2022 Met Gala.
And other people thought that the Met Gala guests could take a page or two out of Shrek’s book to help inspire their looks.
A lot of men tend to wear toned-down looks to the Met Gala, but Shrek’s look was at the opposite end of that spectrum.
There may have been one more Shrek reference at the Met Gala 2022, in the form of Amy Schumer’s look. (Kind of harsh, TBH!)
But, no matter what, fans couldn’t take their eyes off their favorite ogre and his Gilded Age look.
