To promote his upcoming memoir Spare, which will drop on Jan. 10, Prince Harry made a number of TV appearances on shows like 60 Minutes and Good Morning America, revealing new details about the royals. Here’s everything he shared in his recent interviews.
In a Jan. 8 interview on 60 Minutes, Harry claimed his stepmother, Queen Consort Camilla, had leaked stories about the royal family to the British press in an attempt to “rehabilitate her image” after she was blamed for King Charles and Princess Diana's failed marriage.
Harry called Camilla “dangerous” because of the “connections” she was building with the British press. “With a family built on hierarchy, and with her on the way to being Queen consort, there was gonna be people or bodies left in the street because of that,” he said.
Nearly two years after Meghan Markled opened up about her experience with suicidal ideation, Harry told ITV on Jan. 8 that he was afraid of becoming a “single dad” like his father. “I don’t want history to repeat itself,” he said.
In his memoir, Harry accused William of calling Meghan “difficult” and “rude,” which sparked an argument between them that lead William to supposedly attack Harry. The Duke of Sussex told ITV that his brother “wanted” Harry to “hit him back, but I chose not to.”
While appearing on GMA on Jan. 9, Harry addressed his complicated relationship with his brother. “There has always been this competition between us,” he said, explaining it was fueled by the idea that William was always the "heir," while Harry was the "spare."
On the rumor Meghan supposedly made Kate Middleton cry over a bridesmaid dress in 2018, Harry said it “wasn’t the case,” and he needed to set the record straight in his book “for historical reference,” explaining, “The truth needs to be there and it needs to be from me.”
